The latest ever record for Cheshire (outside the heated pools at Stapeley) when Matt Thomas saw a rather battered looking male Common Darter at Thurstaston (28G SJ239832).

A pair of Blue-tailed Damselfly were seen by Bob Bradshaw at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ666513).

It was a fine sunny day today and two sightings were reported. Andy Harmer watched a male Migrant Hawker feeding at Ince Marshes (47T SJ474775), and Matt Thomas saw a female Common Darter at Thurstaston (28G SJ239832).

Laura Pendleton saw a female Common Darter flying today in the vicinity of Narrow Lane, Adlington (98G SJ931824).

There is still the odd Blue-tailed Damselfly emerging at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ666513) reports Bob Bradshaw.
Tony Parker saw a male Migrant Hawker flying over the canal at Wigg Island (58G SJ533837) during the afternoon.

Andy Harmer called at a pond in Knutsford (77J SJ738795) where a single male Common Darter was flying. A dip of the waters yielded nymphs of Red-eyed Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly and Azure Damselfly.

Along the Dee at Aldford (45E SJ410591) Neil Friswell saw male Common Darter and Migrant Hawker. He then moved to the Aldford Brook Marshes (45J SJ425585) where there were a few Common Darter and eleven Migrant Hawker including a tandem pair.

Bob Bradshaw reports several Common Darter still to be seen at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ666513) including a tandem pair ovipositing. A single female Blue-tailed Damselfly was observed emerging on 19.10.08.

Paul Hill visited Dairy House Meadow (67S SJ663757) where he found a few Migrant Hawker and lots of Common Darter. Meanwhile at Kitty's Flash on Thurstaston Common (28M SJ248844) Harry Davies saw several Migrant Hawker and Common Darter with a single male Black Darter in the heather.

There were several Common Darter flying today at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ666513) with single male Southern Hawker and Migrant Hawker reports Bob Bradshaw.

After a night of heavy rain the day turned out bright and sunny and I headed off into the hills. At Rough Hay Quarry (96J SJ925688) there were several Common Darter flying, including a tandem pair. I assume they had come from a nearby pond on the farmland.
At Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ666513) Bob Bradshaw found a few Blue-tailed Damselfly emerging and there were several Common Darter flying.
