Mat Bingham called at Vale Royal Locks (67K SJ640705) today and saw at least six Brown Hawker with a few Blue-tailed Damselfly and a single Migrant Hawker.

Still Brown Hawker and Common Darter flying at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ666513) reports Bob Bradshaw, and a lone Southern Hawker was busy ovipositing.

A Brown Hawker was busy feeding along the Macclesfield Canal at Bosley Locks (96D SJ904666) today and a lone male Banded Demoiselle was seen passing by. Meanwhile Bob Bradshaw saw a few Common Darter at Red Rocks Marsh (28E SJ205882).

Andy Astbury called in again at Newplatt Lake, Goostrey (77K SJ753705) where he saw a few Ruddy Darter. Meanwhile at Newchurch Common (66E SJ604689) Mel Bellingham saw a couple of Emerald Damselfly and a few Red-eyed Damselfly.

This morning in my garden in Macclesfield (87W SJ895735) a female Southern Hawker was causing consternation amongst the Speckled Wood butterflies as it was busily feeding along the hedgerow. Andy Harmer travelled to Shemmy Moss (56Z SJ595687) and soon found a single Common Hawker flying and another emerging. He also saw plenty of Common Darter,
Black Darter and Emerald Damselfly. Down at Anderton Nature Park (67M SJ651751) Richard Buxton found Common Darter and Brown Hawker.

At Vale Royal (67K SJ642705) this afternoon Peter Shaw saw a teneral male Southern Hawker. Bob Bradshaw continued his watch on the action at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ666513) where he saw Emerald Damselfly ovipositing and a single Brown Hawker with a few Common Darter. There were also plenty of Black Darter at Lindow Moss (88F SJ822804) with a few Common Darter and a single Ruddy Darter when Paul Hill visited the site.

Paul Hill visited the dunes at Wallasey (29R SJ275925) today and saw both Brown Hawker and Migrant Hawker in the more sheltered areas.

At Newchurch Common (66E SJ607690) Andy Harmer was disappointed at the number of dragonflies present, seeing only single female Brown Hawker and Common Darter. There were plenty of damselflies to be seen. These were Emerald Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly and Azure Damselfly. Back at Burton (37B SJ304739) Mel Bellingham once again found Brown Hawker with a few Migrant Hawker and Common Darter.

From Marbury Park (67N SJ653763) Paul Hill reports plenty of Migrant Hawker, Brown Hawker and Common Darter feeding in and below the woodland canopy.
