After a cold and frosty night we were blessed with a fine sunny day and Barry Shaw headed for Saltersley Moss (88A SJ819806) where he saw seven Common Darter including two pairs in cop.

With temperatures still high for the time of year and sunshine is likely to bring out the dragonflies. Today Pete Leicester was at Anderton Nature Park (67M SJ651753) and there were lots of Common Darter and Migrant Hawker with a single male Southern Hawker over the ponds. Migrant Hawker were also plentiful along the adjacent River Weaver.

At Danes Moss (97A SJ905704) today Richard Spence saw several Common Darter and Black Darter with a single large Hawker also flying.

Barry Shaw spotted a Southern Hawker flying at Hooksbank Wood (88B SJ804828) this morning.

On ponds at Tatton Park (78L SJ754820) there were several Black Darter and three Southern Hawker including one ovipositing reports Chris Storey.

Denis Swaby spotted a male Migrant Hawker flying at Sandbach Flashes (75J SJ728595) today.

A single Southern Hawker was seen flying in a Poynton (98G SJ925831) garden today reports Dave Bancroft.

It was rather dull today when I walked along the River Weaver at Vale Royal (66P SJ643697) but there was a single male Migrant Hawker flying at the edge of the trees.

On a warm sunny day Ray Collins found several Common Darter near Lady Lane, Mobberley (78V SJ793812). Moving over to the ponds off Woodend Lane (88B SJ801820) he saw Brown Hawker, Migrant Hawker, and Emerald Damselfly. Richard Gabb visited Danes Moss (97A SJ905704) at the same time and recorded Common Hawker, Southern Hawker, Brown Hawker, Common Darter, and Black Darter.

Over in mid-Cheshire John Roberts found a male Southern Hawker by a pond at Haughton (55Y SJ584565) and a female of the same species at Bunbury Mill (55U SJ573580).

Whilst out walking around Middlewood this morning I saw a male Brown Hawker (98M SJ943845) and a male Migrant Hawker (98M SJ945844). Peter Dowse reports several Black Darter from the nature reserve at Jacksons' Brickworks (98M SJ947845).

As soon as the sun showed this afternoon there was a Common Darter basking on the fence in my garden at Higher Poynton (98L SJ944838).

At Burton Mere (37B SJ313736) today Wendy Hughes saw Common Darter flying, and I spotted a male at Higher Poynton (98L SJ944838).

Dennis Swaby took a walk around Warmingham today and found Southern Hawker at Crabmill Flash (76A SJ716602) and Common Darter at Warmingham Flash (76A SJ718616).

A male Southern Hawker was busy during the afternoon feeding around a garden at Higher Poynton (98L SJ944838).
