At Anderton Nature Park (67M SJ651751) Rob McHale was lucky to see a
male Emperor Dragonfly catch and eat a female Common Darter.

At Moore Nature Reserve (58Y SJ5986) Tony Parker reports several Emperor
Dragonfly, Brown Hawker, Southern Hawker, Common
Darter, Ruddy Darter and Black-tailed Skimmer.

Tony Parker saw a pair of Emperor Dragonfly at Norbury Pool, Runcorn
(58X SJ589841). Black-tailed Skimmer, Common Darter and
Ruddy Darter were also present.

At Chester Business Park (36W SJ396631) Mark Payne saw a male Emperor
Dragonfly over the ponds there.

The River Gowy at Gowy Meadows (47H SJ432742) has plenty of Banded
Demoiselle reports Rob McHale.

Rob McHale reports Migrant Hawker from the pond at Fearnhead
(69F SJ643910).

Paul Hill reports the first Migrant Hawker of the season from a visit
to Dairyhouse Meadows (67S SJ663757).
Rob McHale visited the Sanderson's Brook near Middlewich (76C SJ715652) where there were plenty of Banded Demoiselle and a few Blue-tailed Damselfly.
17.7.01
At Barton (45M SJ456542) Allan Brandon spent some time collecting
exuviae from the margins of the pond. His final tally of breeding proven
species was Common Hawker, Brown Hawker, Emperor
Dragonfly, Four-spotted Chaser, Broad-bodied Chaser,
Black-tailed Skimmer and Common Darter.

On the Shropshire Union Canal (65P SJ643581) Mike Bolton reports Banded
Demoiselle flying today.
6.7.01
I headed for the Petty Pool Brook (66J SJ621696) at lunchtime and was
delighted to see that the Beautiful Demoiselle was still resident on
this stream. A number of males were seen fluttering in the patches of
sunlight under the trees but no females were evident.
Peter Shaw was surprised to see a male Hairy Dragonfly on a pond by the Weaver at Vale Royal (66P SJ643698) whilst on the large pool nearby (SJ645696) two male Emperor Dragonfly were flying. Common Darter are also flying here.
5.7.01
A quick walk around Blakemere Moss (57K SJ554711) this lunchtime yielded
plenty of Four-spotted Chasers and a number of Blue-tailed
Damselfly, Azure Damselfly and Large Red Damselfly. A male
Brown Hawker was flying in the adjacent woodland.
2.7.01
After weeks of searching Emma Broad finally found a single male
White-faced Darter at Gull Pool (66E SJ602687). This species
appears to be rapidly declining in Cheshire and it looks as if this may be
the last year that is seen in the County. Other species present there
included Common Hawker, Southern Hawker, Brown Hawker,
Downy Emerald, and a single male Banded Demoiselle.
At Abbotts Moss (56Z SJ595686) the first Black Darters of the season were seen.
Paul Hill visited Dairyhouse Meadows (67S SJ663757) and Anderton
Nature Park (67M SJ651751) and was rewarded by seeing 15 species. These
were: Southern Hawker, Brown Hawker, Emperor Dragonfly,
Four-spotted Chaser, Broad-bodied Chaser, Black-tailed Skimmer,Common
Darter, Ruddy Darter, Banded Demoiselle, Large Red Damselfly,
Emerald Damselfly, Red-eyed Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly,
Blue-tailed Damselfly and Azure Damselfly.
