At Little Budworth Common (56X SJ583661) Paul Hill saw six species of dragonfly and no damselflies whatsoever. Present were Common Hawker, Migrant Hawker, Southern Hawker, Brown Hawker, Common Darter and Black Darter.

Anderton Nature Park (67M SJ651751) yielded a number of emerging Common Darters.

23.8.01
A lunchtime walk at Newchurch Common (66E SJ607690) yielded plenty of activity. The Migrant Hawkers were evident in increasing numbers whilst there were also plenty of Brown Hawker, Common Darter and Ruddy Darter. Damselflies seen were Emerald Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly and Common Blue Damselfly.

9.8.01
It may have been quite a bit colder today but Matt Thomas visited Moore Nature Reserve (58S SJ573853). Dragonflies present were Migrant Hawker, Brown Hawker, Emperor Dragonfly, Common Darter and Ruddy Darter. There were also the usual blue and Blue-tailed Damselflies along with Emerald Damselfly.

1.8.01
Tony Parker visited the Sankey Brook at Dallam (59V SJ595908) today where two male Banded Demoiselle were flying.

At Newchurch Common (66E SJ607690) there was plenty of activity with nine species present including Southern Hawker, Brown Hawker, Common Darter, B>Ruddy Darter, Emerald Damselfly and Red-eyed Damselfly.

There were plenty of large dragonflies at Fearnhead (69F SJ643910) where Rob McHale saw Migrant Hawker, Common Hawker, Southern Hawker and Brown Hawker. Common Darter and Ruddy Darter were also present.
