Jalainur Mine

15th October 1992

JF No.257 awaiting scrapping at the stabling point close to the pit.

Another view of SY No.1257 as it fights its way out of the pit.

Slipping to a halt on the curves and gradients appeared to be a regular occurrence. Here a train that had set back after stalling is preparing to be banked out by the following working.

An SY Class locomotive pushes a load of spoil up the last bank out of the pit. The whole network was signalled with colour lights.

SY No.1449 arrives for more spoil. The distant buildings mark the edge of the town of Jalainur.
