An eighteenth century flare kiln with two draw holes leading from a large bowl. This is an excellent survival of the type of intermittent kiln technology used in parts of South Yorkshire until at least the 1930s. This kiln along with three others in this old quarry have been disused since at least the late nineteenth century.
